MHS – Coriell Institute Science Fair Winners

A talented group of MHS Science students recently entered the competition in this year’s Coriell Institute Science Fair. MHS Science teacher and Coriell Institute Science Fair advisor, Mr. Sean Watson, has provided us with a recap:

The 38th Annual Coriell Institute Science Fair was held at the Blackwood Campus of Camden County College on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Hosted by the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, Moorestown High School had eight students competing in the fair this year.  Our students performed very well.  All eight took home prizes, and five of the students will move on to compete in the annual Delaware Valley Science Fair on April 3, 2019.  A listing of achievements by our students is provided below:

  • Freshman Student – First place in the Biochemistry category and Best in Fair prize – “Putting the Plant in Transplant; Plant Decellularization for Tissue Scaffolds” – going to DVSF
  • Freshman Team (3 members) – Third place in the Team category – “How Does Magnetism Effect the Germination of Plants?”
  • Sophomore Student – First place in Environmental Science category – “The War on Plants: 2,4 Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid vs. the Hydrophytes” –  going to DVSF
